The Gasbags

September 2000

Matthews is currently designing characters and environments for a computer game being developed by a top British company, with an American publisher. He is likely to be engaged on this project for several months to come, more news as available.

Recent jobs include work on a computer game for 989 Studios in San Diego (see the Computer Games section), preliminary conceptual art for a children's animation project by Santa Monica Studios, and a new illustration for a poster based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings commissioned by Anabas Fine Arts (this will shortly appear in the Mail Order section).

There is talk of the production of a second series of Matthews & Gerry Anderson's animated children's show Lavender Castle. It is hoped that a positive announcement will soon be made.

Rodney's first anthology book 'In Search of Forever' is now being re-printed by Paper Tiger after several years of being unavailable. This will be on sale in the mail order section as will the subsequent anthology books 'Last Ship Home' and 'Countdown to Millennium'.

The Australian jigsaw puzzle company Blue Opal is in the process of publishing four Matthews designs as puzzles. These are: 20,000 Leagues under the Sea (The Nautilus), Alice in Wonderland (At the March Hare's Table), The Wind in the Willows (The Formidable Four), and The War of the Worlds (The Martians). Each puzzle is circular and packaged in book-like boxes.
